Connecticut coach spends summer fighting cancer
UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) - August 13, 2008 - It wasn’t the way Jim Calhoun wanted to spend his summer. Thirty-three times over seven weeks, Connecticut’s Hall of Fame basketball coach left his eastern Connecticut home by 5:30 a.m. to make a 45-minute trip to the University of Connecticut Health Center for a dose of radiation. The skin cancer treatment left him thinner, weaker, temporarily unable to taste food—and ready to get back to work.  More »
