In a first round game in the West Regional, the University of Connecticut takes on the West Coast Conference tournament champion University of San Diego Toreros. That game will mark the third straight year that the Huskies will have faced two WCC foes in the same season. Both the Toreros and the Huskies have a common opponent this season as both teams played the Gonzaga Bulldogs. In December UConn lost to Gonzaga 85-82, while San Diego went 1-2 against the Zags this season with the victory coming in the championship of the WCC tournament. Over the past three seasons, the Huskies have been 4-1 when playing against a school from the WCC.
